THE WIRE

The Foehn label’s stated misión is to give an audience to new Spanish acts, hence this instrumental post-rock offering from sextet Café Teatro. Aided and abetted by Chicagoan production luminary Todd A Carter, they have produced a satisfyingly retfuland harmonically gentle collection. The pace never stirs above the most languid of drifts, be it on the harmonium drenched opener “Motelâ€? or the whispering guitar of “Lanaâ€? or the sighing lullaby of “La Ãœltima Vez Que Tocamos Esta Canciónâ€?, whose finger bells finally usher in a soulful trombone part. The tour de force of the album, though, is the extend and the envolving “Gardenâ€? that solidifies from swirling gaseous trails into a pulsing living entily driven by jazzy drums and a return for Iban Ginea’s trombone only to peak, fall, silence itself and climb again. ROCK DE LUX

Excelente segundo disco del grupo de Zarautz. Sonidos realmente envolventes, de sutil orfebrería, recorren las cinco piezas intrumentales de Burga. Baterías y bajos como boleros ravelianos, trompetas de estilizada sonoridad pop (“Lanaâ€?), guitarras de cadencias repetitivas, suaves texturas de metales entrecortados, exquisitas variaciones sobre un mismo tema, ribetes de pop electroacústico en duermevela (“La última vez que tocamos esta canciónâ€?), instantáneas de folk minimalista, aceleraciones pausadas (como en “Gardenâ€?, la mejor pieza del disco), pausas con estilo y sentido, silencios rentables y fragmentos a ralentí.
