ButtercupMetalPolish works on semi-structured and structured drumset-improvisations without clear references to any particular genre in a man-instrument continuum, in which skin and metal as well as other type of musically conductive materials are used to create sound;
Using techniques like friction, rubbing, and scratching as well as the usual “Bang the drum” they deal with the sonic outputs-nice or ugly- without aesthetical considerations or restrictions once they come to existence. They react and interact in their own ways regardless of trends, putting together two similar instruments in one duo.
F. Sixto (cave12): “The duo Buttercup Metal Polish hasn’t finished to (faire parler d’eux). Day after day, they’re gainig always more in intensivity, new ideas, tectonic revolutions and alien-like visions, pushing forward/redefining the “concept” of a drumset duet.”
webmachine: “These guys pull sounds out of drums that need to be seen to be believed. An unmissable set for anyone who likes hearing things with parts of their anatomy that aren’t supposed to hear things.”
Luca Sabbatini, (TDG): “Buttercup Metal Polish pratique une haute voltige percussive en toute quiétude, avec une douceur envoûtante. Vertigineux.”
