Vía nettime me entero de la existencia de www.europarchive.org la biblioteca digital que todos nos habíamos preguntado por qué no existía ya. Es una gran noticia y una mejor idea. Ahora hay que ver qué tal va. Por lo pronto el país origen parece que es Holanda y al menos tienen intención de traducir los textos a todos los idiomas europeos.

European Archive es una biblioteca digital de elementos culturales en formato digital. Proporcionamos acceso gratuito a investigadores, historiadores, estudiantes y al público en general.

Se presentó el 28 de septiembre pero yo no me había enterado:

The European Archive Foundation was officially launched during the opening of the Crossmedia Week in Amsterdam. Operating from Amsterdam and Paris, it is collecting and making freely accessible public domain collections and large web archives via its multilingual website (europarchive.org). Collections already comprise one of the largest online free classical music collections (more than 350 LPs) made in collaboration with the National TV and Radio Archive of the Netherlands, a snapshot of the Italian web domain, made in collaboration with the National Library of Italy and an archive of political websites of the 25 EU member states captured during the European constitutional debate.

Los contenidos están divididos en tres grandes grupos: Películas, Grabaciones y Web El archivo tiene diseño estilo 2006, con sus tags, con su grado de accesibilidad habitual y todo en PHP. Si eres usuario habitual de Archive.org te parecerá muy similar en su arquitectura de la información.
